"Same clue? Gone!" A co-op word game where one word is all you get
Everyone except the guesser sees the secret word and secretly writes a one-word clue.
Matching clues cancel each other out, so the guesser only sees what's left.
How many of the 13 words can you get? 3 to 8 players, one team.
About the game
Jinx! is a cooperative word association party game for 3 to 8 players, each on their own phone. Guess the word as a team using one-word clues. But careful: if two of you write the same clue, Jinx! It gets crossed out.
How a turn works
- One player is the guesser. Their phone hides the secret word.
- Everyone else sees the word and secretly writes a one-word clue.
- Identical clues get a Jinx! stamp and are crossed out. Clues that are the word itself, contain it, translate it or just sound like it are removed by the app too.
- The guesser sees only the clues that survive and gets one guess.
Score as a team
- 13 words per game. Every correct guess scores a point.
- A wrong guess also throws away one of the remaining words, so passing can be the smart move.
- At the end, your team gets a grade based on how many words you guessed.
Made for playing together
- Create a room and invite friends with a room code, an invite link or a QR code.
- Every phone stays in sync: same screen, same step, for everyone.
- Each step has a time limit and moves on by itself, so nobody has to press next.
- The guesser role rotates, so everyone gets a turn.
- Easy everyday words in 19 languages.
- Lost your connection? Rejoin the room. If the host leaves, someone else takes over.
Great for family gatherings, parties, road trips, classrooms and game nights with friends. Think of the clue only you would write, and guess the word together.
Rules and how to play
Getting ready
- Play with 3 to 8 people, each on their own phone. The host creates a room and invites everyone with the link or QR code.
- You're all one team. A game has 13 cards, and the more you get right, the better your rank.
How a card works
- Each turn, one player is the guesser. Their phone doesn't show the secret word. Everyone else sees it.
- Everyone who sees the word secretly writes exactly one word as a hint. No talking it over and no showing each other.
- Once everyone is done, the hint givers look at all the hints together. Identical hints and invalid hints are removed.
- The guesser sees only the hints that are left and gets one answer. If you're not sure, you can pass.
- Each step has a time limit and moves on by itself when time runs out. Once everyone has sent a hint, it moves on right away. A moment after the answer is shown, the next word comes up, and the guesser role goes around in turn.
Hints that get removed
- Identical hints are removed for everyone who wrote them. Hints that only differ in spacing, capitals or plural count as the same. Example: "Cat" and "cats"
- The word itself, or a word that contains it, isn't allowed. Example: "snowman" for the word "snow"
- Words from the same family aren't allowed either. Example: "baker" for the word "bake"
- Translations into another language aren't allowed. Example: "manzana" for the word "apple"
- Words that only sound alike aren't allowed. Example: "knight" for the word "night"
- The app removes these hints by itself. Every other hint stays, no matter how odd it is.
Score
- A correct answer is 1 point.
- A wrong answer is 0 points and one of the remaining cards is thrown out. So if you don't know, passing is better.
- A pass is 0 points and skips just that card.
