"Did you rig the teams again?" Never hear that again

One tap and the result appears on everyone's phone at the same time. No more suspicion.

Win rates add up every match, and Best Duo shows who you win with the most.

Custom games, pickup basketball, office field days: whenever you need to split teams and keep score!

About the game

TeamPick is a random team maker for custom games and pickup matches: split your lobby into fair sides in seconds, and everyone sees the same draw live on their own phone. It also tracks win rates and the duos that win most together.

Made for game nights with friends: Discord lobbies, scrims, office tournaments, weekend futsal. If you have ever spent ten minutes arguing over who plays with whom, this is the shortcut. One person creates a group, shares a link or QR code, and the draw runs on every screen at once, so nobody can say the result was rigged.

How it works

1. Create a group and pick the players who showed up tonight.

2. Choose how many sides you need, anywhere from 2 to 6.

3. Pick a reveal style and start the draw.

4. Everyone sees the same result live, and an alert can go out to your Discord channel.

Features

Where groups use it

Discord customs and in-house nights: split a 5v5 lobby without anyone feeling picked last. The random team generator gives every player the same chance, and the result lands in your server through the webhook.

Office leagues and weekend futsal: a quick team maker on the field or the court. Pull out your phone and both sides are ready before the warm up ends.

Gym class and club activities: when a teacher or club leader needs to divide a class into squads, the draw on everyone's screen keeps it fair and fast, and nobody complains afterwards.

Discord bot

Add the TeamPick bot to your server and split teams with a command right in the channel, with a button to draw again. Link the channel to your group and you can record wins and losses there too.

Why the stats matter

After a few sessions, TeamPick shows each person's record in every format, plus which pairs click. The friendly debate about who carries whom finally has numbers behind it, and you will know which duo to break up next time. Many groups open it as a simple team picker and keep coming back for the history.

How is it different from drawing names out of a hat? The whole room sees the same reveal at the same moment, the result is saved, and over time the team maker turns into a record book for your crew.

How to Use TeamPick: Groups, Team Picks, Win Rates and Alerts

TeamPick is a free web app for splitting your friends into fair teams for custom games, logging who won each round and turning that into win rates. When one person hits “Pick teams”, the result shows up on everyone's screen at the same moment, so nobody on the Discord call can claim someone secretly rerolled until they liked the teams. This page walks you through everything in order, so you can follow along the first time you use it.

1. Create a group

On the home screen, tap “Create group”. You'll get fields for the group name, the players and the number of teams. Group names can be up to 20 characters. Something like “Friday scrims” or “ARAM night” works well, since it makes the group easy to spot in your list later.

Add your players one nickname at a time. Each nickname can be up to 12 characters, and a group can hold anywhere from 2 to 30 players. You can split them into 2 to 6 teams. TeamPick never asks for real names or contact details, only nicknames.

You only need a Google sign-in to create a group. Every group needs one clear owner, so the first time you tap “Create group” a Google sign-in window appears, and once you sign in the group form opens right away. Friends who come in through an invite link or code join without signing up. The first time you open TeamPick, an anonymous account is created in your browser, and the groups you're in are saved under “My groups” for that account. If you switch between your phone and your PC, or you clear your browser data a lot, it's worth tapping “Sign in with Google” at the top of the home screen once even if you only join groups. After that, the same group list follows you to any device.

2. Invite your friends

Open the “Settings” tab in your group and find the “Invite” section. Tap “Copy link” and paste it into your group chat or Discord channel. Anyone who opens the link lands straight in the group. If a link is awkward to send, tap “Copy code” and share the 6-character invite code instead. Your friends enter it under “Join with code” on the home screen.

If everyone is in the same room, tap “QR code”. A big QR code and the 6-character code fill the screen, and your friends just point their camera at it. The QR code is generated right on your device, and the address is never sent to an outside service.

People who join are viewers of the group, separate from the nicknames on the roster. A friend who isn't on the roster can join just to watch, and nobody on the roster has to join at all. One person running everything from a single phone works perfectly fine.

3. Pick teams

  • At the top of the “Teams” tab, under “Playing”, switch off anyone who isn't playing today. If someone shows up late, switch them back on. The roster stays as it is; this just decides who is in this round.
  • Choose a pick mode from the chips right below the “Pick teams” button: Instant, Pinball race, Card flip, Ladder lottery or Number draw. The differences are explained on the draw modes page.
  • Tap “Pick teams”. The result is locked in the instant you tap, and everyone viewing the group sees the same result with the same animation at the same time.
  • If two people tap at almost the same moment, only one result survives. The slower screen briefly shows “Someone picked first” and then displays the teams that were already set.

Teams are always split so that sizes differ by at most one player. Nine players in 2 teams become 5 and 4; ten players in 3 teams become 4, 3 and 3. By default the split is completely random. If you want past win rates to count, turn on the “Win-rate mode” button (Balance teams), right of the draw button on the Teams tab.

4. Log the result

When the game is over and you tap “Pick again”, TeamPick doesn't jump straight to new teams. First you get a “Which team won?” card. Tap the winning team and the round is saved, then new teams are picked right away. If it was a warm-up or a game you abandoned halfway, tap “Don't record” and you'll just get new teams without saving anything.

Each saved round stores the team lineups, the winning team and the game format. The format is simply the team sizes: 5 vs 5 is saved as 5:5, and an odd round with 3 vs 2 is saved as 3:2. If you tapped the wrong team, you can delete that round from the recent games list in the “Stats” tab.

5. Check your stats

The “Stats” tab shows a table with games, wins, losses and win rate for every player. It's sorted by win rate, and because the number of games sits right next to it, you won't read too much into a tiny sample like 3 games, 3 wins.

Below that, “Best duos” ranks pairs of players by their win rate in rounds where they were on the same team. Only pairs who played at least 3 games together make the list, so a combo that got lucky once can't jump to the top. It's where you finally get numbers behind “we always win when we're together”.

The small selector above the table filters by game format. “All” combines every round, while picking 5:5 or 3:3 shows only rounds in that format. Odd formats like 3:2 are kept separate instead of being mixed into the nearest even one.

6. Get alerts: Discord webhook and push

You can get the result as a notification the moment teams are set. Push is personal: each member turns it on or off for themselves under “My notifications” in the “Settings” tab (it starts off). Discord is set by the group owner under “Group notifications”. Each round sends exactly one alert per channel, it goes out without waiting for the animation to finish, and if one channel fails the other still gets through.

  • Discord (group owner only): in Discord, open the settings of the channel where you want results posted, go to Integrations, then Webhooks, create a New Webhook and click Copy Webhook URL. Paste that into “Discord webhook URL” in TeamPick's Settings and save. From then on, every round posts the team list to that channel automatically. The webhook URL is stored only on the server, and other members only see its last few characters.
  • Push: members who joined through the Android app and turned on push under “My notifications” get a phone notification. The person who picked the teams doesn't get one, and tapping it opens that group directly.

7. Clean up old groups

When you're done with a group, long press it in the list on the home screen, or use the button at the bottom of the “Settings” tab. If you created the group, this deletes the group, its records and its invite code entirely. If someone else does it, the group only disappears from their own list.
